#638 - Dessert Buffet with Durian Pastries

Short meetup with ex workmates, Yu Hui and Zac the other day! :)
Since all of us love durians, we decided to head to Coffee Lounge at Goodwood Park Hotel for durian dessert buffet!!

Spread was okay, but the main highlights were (or I should say are) the Durian Puffs and the Durian Pancakes (which were made on the spot)!

I am never a fan of sweet stuff so I was just keeping myself busy/stuffing myself silly with the durian desserts! I really really love the puffs and the pancakes! (Y)

The buffet price is a little on the hefty side and it's my first time but I guess overall it was great?
I mean the prices to get those durian cakes on its own are really crazy. Like the Durian Mousse Cake which costs $11/slice?! And the Durian Puffs were like $7 for 2 pieces? Wanna say daylight robbery but okay lah, for hotel standard and also the quality durians!

But maybe I shall stick to buying those shelled ones next time, got more feeling to eat it fresh! :D

Buffet prices:
$33.80++ per person (Dessert Buffet with Durian Pastries only)
$26.80++ per person (With any A La Carte Main Course order)

#637 - Food As Motivation #26 - Hatched / Last Week's Visuals

I have been a fan of Egg Benedicts ever since I had my first one over at Privé so one day I headed down to Hatched at Holland Village (since many have been raving about its egg ben and homemade mash) to try!

Sir Benedict (Just One: SGD13; Do Two: SGD19)
Eggs were perfectly poached but the sauce was too light.
Pretty average tasting and the homemade mash was so-so only!
There were chunks of potatoes inside so I guess it's not entirely mash? :/

Smoked Royale (Just One: SGD13; Do Two: SGD19)

 Papillote (SGD16)
This share is quite large, I took it from one side thus it looks very little.
I love the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs!
And I polished off the whole pesto sauce. :P
But the sauteed potatoes were such a disappointment. Hard and tasted burnt. :(
Saveur's one is way way way better (of course)!!!!

Maybe I had too much expectations of Hatched, I don't think it's really worth the price at all, or I should probably head down to the main branch and try?

Last week's visuals featuring le best butt. #whatsnew
Have yet to meet up the other cliques so none of their photos up here because mainly it's hard to meet up no thanks to our conflicting schedules. D:

Slacked at McCafe drinking my Hot Chocolate on a rainy day helping her think of ideas for her *probably gonna happen* 21st birthday party.

And guess what?
Right after that, we went for an impromptu session of cycling.
Yes, we damn on! (Y)

#636 - Lessons

Today an intellectually disabled kid sat next to me in the bus. I didn't realise at all because I was sleeping throughout the whole bus ride. I was aware of where I am heading to and when to alight (the very last stop at the bus interchange). At the traffic light right before the bus makes a turn to the bus interchange, I felt someone poking me. I woke up and there she was, smiling at me, informing me that I have to alight soon because we are going to reach the last stop.

Somehow, that moment, I really feel kind of 'touched' and also rather 'bad' somehow? I don't know the exact words for it. I have never interact with intellectually disabled people before and I always wonder what they are really like. People will be often quick to judge them thinking they don't really understand things *guilty as charged for being quite surprised then, to know that they will do such a thing, I am so sorry for even thinking about that* but actually you know what? They are all the same like us, it's just that they have a reduced ability to understand information or to cope independently (got that off Google).

That night was really an 'eye-opening' incident for me for I learn something new about them and I will now see them in a different light. :)

#635 - My Braces Journey

Kind of narcissistic entry ahead, just for future reference. :P

It's amazing to see how much my teeth have shifted in just 3 months plus's time!
Not to mention how my face shape changed! (Okay maybe angle)
And and my eyelids. *coughs*
看到了没有.... Single and double really got difference one hor!

My milk tooth gap is going to be covered up soon and although I am a little affected by how my top row's teeth are a bit slanted to the right now, I am happy that at least I see some straightening taking place.

This is what I mean regarding how the teeth is more towards my right side due to shifting of teeth to close up the milk teeth gap.
And yes, this photo also explains why I dislike taking photo on right side of my face, presence of dimple makes my already quite boink boink face much more... fat. ._.

I can't wait for more and more appointments!

On the road to straighter teeth, me. :)

#634 - Food As Motivation #25 - Saveur

Disclaimer: This entry is going to have a lot of good ravings about Saveur!

Saveur has been on my F.A.M. list for very long and I've heard so many people saying to try their pasta and duck confit. Its first outlet was at Purvis Street which was pretty inconvenient for me so I was glad when I realised a new outlet was opened at Far East Plaza. :)

So, I finally went to try Saveur the other day and I want to go back there again!!!!
This is the first time I tried a lot of dishes in a restaurant and love probably every single one!
The dishes do not disappoint and the prices are affordable!
Where can you find affordable and tasty French cuisine food you tell me!
Cheaper than your average Swensen's or Pastamania for mains!

Let's move on to the super yummy food, shall we? :D

STARTERS
Saveur's Pasta: A signature of Saveur's, pasta tossed with chilli oil, fine-chopped Japanese konbu & sakura ebi with minced pork sauce (SGD4.90)
This was a starter and the share was actually quite huge!
I love every single thing about it!

Foie Gras: Pan-seared duck liver served with creamy lentils & pickled pearl onion (SGD7.90)
First time trying Foie Gras, I guess it was okay!
Where can you get Foie Gras at such a low price you tell me!!
It was a little bitter for me but the lentils and the sweet onion made up for it!

SIDES
Sauteed Potato (SGD2)
Perfect, just so gooooood, 'nuff said. (Pardon me for my lack of vocabulary HAHAHA)

MAINS
Beef: Beef short rib braised in red wine served with root vegetables, meslun salad & potato au gratin (SGD14.90)
The beef was so tender and soft, it can literally melt in your mouth!
Au gratin was light and tasty and the salad dressing was dope, we cleaned off the whole plate! (Y)

Duck: Duck leg confit, homemade mashed potato, sauteed shitake mushroom, orange segments & prange infused natural jus (SGD10.90)
Super huge and fragrant duck leg!
The mashed potato was great with a little sweet fragrance! The orange slices were surprisingly sweet!
Best eaten when hot! :D

DESSERTS
Pistachio Panna Cotta: Pistachio-flavoured cooked cream, topped with ground and caramelised pistachio (SGD6.90)
The quantity is much more than it looks!
The cream was so so so smooth and rich, better than Paris Baguette's Royal Pudding definitely!

Omg I want to go back there again and try the other dishes!
Probably the seabass and salmon confit!

It's now 1am while I am blogging these and I am feeling so hungryyyy. :(

Caught Despicable Me 2 that day after our lunch!
The minions are so funny the whole theatre kept bursting out in laughter!

This part where the minions were serenading for their master's marriage...
Instead of "And I swear...", they sang "Underwear..." LOLOL.
Go listen!!! Somemore their expressions while singing in the movie were damn serious and 投入 can!! HAHAHA.

Light hearted movie with 'childish' humour!
Go watch if you haven't! :)
